Welcome to our blog, we are four girls from different parts of Germany who are all participating in the same volunteer service: Weltwärts.
We met 2 weeks ago at the preparation seminar of our German Sending Organization "Deutsch Indische Zusammenarbeit e.V." and are all relieved to be travelling and working together.
We are all very excited to be volunteering at our Indian partner organization "Chaithanya Mahila Mandali" (CMM).
Karla and I (Katie) will be assisting at 2 schools in Shamshabad and Nina and Joana will both be helping out at the girls orphanage "Chaithanya Happy Home".

Weltwärts focuses on joint intercultural learning. The funding by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) gives all interested young people between the ages of 18 and 28 the opportunity to participate in the learning service.
The majority has just finished school and completed their A levels (Abitur). They volunteer for six to 24 months at a local partner organisation in education, health, environment, agriculture, culture or human rights. They are integrated in the partner organisation, support the employees in their work and gradually assume their own responsibilities. The volunteers gain experience abroad and acquire knowledge of the language and personal competencies.
After their service, the returning volunteers continue to dedicate themselves to development work in their homelands. As a result, they bring their experiences back to society and make a personal contribution to a fairer world through their assignment abroad.
The Deutsch-Indische Zusammenarbeit e.V. (DIZ), is a non-profit association that focuses on international understanding and development cooperation. The original name of the association "Sangam" means "to flow together" in Sanskrit and we consider this and "Ecumenical" in a broad sense: Every human being, no matter what his or her world view may be, is welcomed to our charitable cause. People of various beliefs, skin colours, education and origin in India and Europe are working together to improve the living conditions of to date underprivileged people.
We are politically and religiously independent as well as independent from other organizations.
One of our key values is to work at eye level with our partners in India and Europe and we strongly believe in the principle: "Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe" (help for self-help).
In any case the support should be conceived so that the concerned can become independent from help as soon as possible.
Chaitanya Mahila Mandali has been working on rescuing children and women from human traffickers for 15 years. They help as many children, girls and women as possible by offering different services such as residential care, trauma counselling, qualified education, medical care, nutrition and psycho-social support.
Chaithanya Mahila Mandali (CMM) gives hope and shelter to children who have been constrained in the prostitution industry. The organization's aim is to prevent them from getting into sex work when they are grown up. In Chaithanya Happy Home, CMM's orphanage, 40 girls get the chance of receiving good school education, quality food and a clean and safe home.
Chaithanya Mahila Mandali, also works with urban and rural deprived children, youth and women, offering help to prevent them from entering into Child Trafficking/human trafficking, unemployment/poverty, various physical abuses/sexual abuses, and offer life skills-training/alternative vocational trainings to stand independent, educates to fight against the evil of dowry system, illiteracy, etc.
